User Manual 92 pages · 1.3 MB · EN

The ADAU1445 and ADAU1446 are SigmaDSP digital audio processors offering flexible audio routing, up to eight stereo asynchronous sample‑rate converters, and support for S/PDIF, serial, and TDM interfaces. They are designed for automotive and commercial audio applications such as head units, navigation systems, and DSP amplifiers.

The devices operate with a 172 MHz core clock, provide 24 digital I/O channels, and include a 10‑bit auxiliary ADC. Key specifications include a temperature range of –40 °C to +105 °C, a dynamic range of 139 dB A‑weighted, and support for sample rates up to 192 kHz. Power supplies are 3.3 V AVDD, 1.8 V DVDD, and 3.3 V IOVDD, with on‑chip regulators for 1.8 V generation.

Questions answered in these manuals

What is the issue with the S/PDIF transmitter validity bit?

The validity bit is internally hardcoded to logic high, which indicates invalid data according to the S/PDIF specification, potentially causing receiving ICs to ignore the audio data.

From: Analog Devices ADAU1442/ADAU1445/ADAU1446 Silicon Anomaly Sheet

How can the S/PDIF validity bit issue be worked around?

Audio data should be routed to the serial ports and then to an I2S-to-S/PDIF transceiver IC instead of connecting directly to the SPDIFO pin.

From: Analog Devices ADAU1442/ADAU1445/ADAU1446 Silicon Anomaly Sheet

What is the maximum sample rate supported by the ADAU1445/1446?

The device supports a sample rate up to 192 kHz.

From: Analog Devices ADAU1445/ADAU1446 Handbook

What is the temperature range for guaranteed operation?

Functionality is guaranteed from –40 °C to +105 °C ambient.
