Where our manuals come from
Every document on ManualLib comes from one of two places: public sources on the web, or files shared by our visitors. This page explains both, and what we do to a document before it appears here.
1. Public sources on the web
Most of the library was collected from publicly accessible pages on the web, such as:
- Manufacturer and brand support sites and download centres.
- Distributor and retailer product pages that attach the manual or datasheet as a PDF.
- Public documentation repositories and archives.
- Copies saved before a manufacturer removed, moved or renamed the file. A large share of the manuals here can no longer be found at their original address.
Our aim is to include only documents that were publicly available or that the person sharing them had the right to share. With a library of this size we cannot verify the origin of every file. If you find a document that was not meant to be public, tell us and we will review and remove it.
2. Files shared by visitors
Visitors send us manuals they own, often for older or discontinued products that were never published online. Each upload is reviewed by a person before it is published, and the uploader confirms they have the right to share it. See Upload a manual.
What we do with a document
- The file is kept as it is. The PDF you read or download is the original document. We do not edit, re-brand or watermark it.
- We catalogue it. Brand, model, product category, document type, language and page count are read from the document and checked against our catalogue.
- We make it searchable. Text is extracted, with OCR for scanned pages, so that you can search inside the library.
- We add a short description. Summaries, key points and FAQs on a manual page are generated automatically from the text of that document. They are a reading aid, not a substitute for the manual.
What this means for accuracy
- ManualLib is an independent library. It is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by any manufacturer listed here.
- A document may be for a different revision, region or model variant than the product in front of you. Always check the model number and revision printed in the manual itself.
- Automatically generated summaries and FAQs can contain mistakes. Where they differ from the manual, the manual is right.
- For safety-critical work (electrical, gas, automotive, medical, industrial machinery), confirm the procedure with the manufacturer or a qualified technician.
Help us correct it
If a manual is filed under the wrong model, is incomplete, or has been replaced by a newer revision, please report an error. Reports are reviewed by a person and usually handled within three business days.
Manufacturers and rights holders
Documents remain the property of their respective owners, and product names and trademarks belong to their owners. If you represent a manufacturer, we are glad to replace an outdated file with the current one, add a link to your official support page, or remove a document that was published in error. Write to us through the contact page. For copyright removal requests, see our DMCA and copyright policy.
