L7900 series of negative voltage regulators are available in TO-220, ISOWATT220 TO-3 and D2PAK packages and several fixed output voltages, making it useful in a wide range of applications.

The L7900 series is a three-terminal negative voltage regulator with an output current of up to 1.5A and several fixed output voltage options. It features thermal overload protection, short circuit protection, and output transition SOA protection. These regulators are useful in a wide range of applications and can provide local on-card regulation, eliminating the distribution problems associated with single point regulation. Additionally, they are particularly suited for split power supplies as they have the same voltage options as the L7800 positive standard series. The -5.2V option is also available for ECL systems. With adequate heat sinking, they can deliver over 1.5A of output current. Although primarily designed as fixed voltage regulators, these devices can be used with external components to obtain adjustable voltages and currents.
