STMicroelectronics M48T02/M48T12 Timekeeper SRAM Datasheet
The M48T02 and M48T12 are 5.0V, 16 Kbit (2 Kb x 8) Timekeeper SRAMs that integrate a real-time clock and power-fail control circuit. These devices are housed in a special 24-pin CAPHAT DIP package containing a quartz crystal and a long-life lithium button cell, providing non-volatile data retention for at least 10 years without power.
The devices are pin and function compatible with JEDEC standard 2 K x 8 SRAMs and the DS1642. They feature a BCD-coded clock that automatically handles leap years and varying month lengths, with typical accuracy of +1 minute per month at 25°C. The integrated power-fail circuit automatically switches to the internal battery when the supply voltage drops below a specific threshold to protect data integrity.
