STMicroelectronics M41T82/M41T83 Serial I2C RTC Datasheet
The M41T82 and M41T83 are low-power serial I2C real-time clocks (RTCs) featuring a built-in 32.768 kHz oscillator. They include a non-volatile time-of-day clock/calendar, two alarm interrupts, a watchdog timer, and an 8-bit counter. The devices automatically switch to a battery supply during power failures to maintain timekeeping.

Questions answered in these manuals
What is the ultra-low battery supply current?
The battery supply current is 365 nA.
From: STMicroelectronics M41T82/M41T83 Serial I2C RTC Datasheet
What is the clock operating voltage range?
The clock operates between 2.0 V and 5.5 V.
From: STMicroelectronics M41T82/M41T83 Serial I2C RTC Datasheet
What happens if the Halt bit is not cleared before writing time registers?
Writing to addresses 00h to 07h without first clearing the HT bit will result in the counters being overwritten, thus corrupting the time/date.
From: STMicroelectronics AN1572 Power-Down Time-Stamp Function in Serial RTCs Application Note
Do M41T82/83/93 RTCs save the time of power-down?
No, these specific models do not save the time at power-down; their buffers contain the time of the last access prior to power-down.
From: STMicroelectronics AN1572 Power-Down Time-Stamp Function in Serial RTCs Application Note
What is the purpose of this application note?
To show how users can get high accuracy over a wide temperature range using ST's M41T82-83-93 series RTCs.
From: AN2678 Extremely Accurate Timekeeping Using Adaptive Calibration for M41T82-83-93 Series RTCs
How is the initial calibration performed?
The analog calibration circuit is adjusted at room temperature in a closed loop fashion until the error is minimized.
