The SAA5254 Integrated VIP and teletext decoder is a complete teletext decoder that includes page memory and FASTEXT links. It automatically processes extension packet 26 to provide the widest possible language decoding. It is 100% hardware compatible with the SAA5244A, making it a plug-in replacement and extra market option. The device is also compatible with other members of the Philips teletext decoder family, such as SAA5280 and SAA5249, providing a single hardware solution for the full range. It has low software overhead, a single page acquisition system, an RGB interface to standard colour decoder ICs, and separate text and video signal quality detectors.
