Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C8 RRHT Threaded Column Datasheet

Datasheet

Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C8 RRHT Threaded Column is a high-speed reversed-phase HPLC column designed for higher pressure operation (up to 600 bar) and packed with a high-performance microparticulate C8 packing. The column utilizes the eXtra-Dense Bonding (XDB) technology to bond organo-silane ligands to an ultra-pure silica support, and employs double endcapping to protect the support from dissolution in mobile phases of intermediate and higher pH. It is especially useful for the separation of acidic, basic, and other highly polar compounds by reversed-phase liquid chromatography.

Datasheet

Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C8 Rapid Resolution HPLC Column is a high-performance microparticulate C8 packing designed for high-pressure operation (up to 600 bar). Using this column, it can quickly separate acidic, basic, and other polar compounds. This packing consists of 1.8 μm diameter particles with high surface area and high dispersion.

User Manual

ZORBAX SB-C8 Rapid Resolution threaded columns are specially designed for higher pressure operation (up to 600 bar) and are packed with a high-performance microparticulate C8 packing for high-speed reversed-phase HPLC. The StableBond packing is made by chemically bonding a sterically protected C8 stationary phase to a specially prepared, high-purity ZORBAX porous silica microsphere. The special ZORBAX silica support is designed to reduce or eliminate strong adsorption of basic compounds. The densely covered, sterically protected, diisopropyl n-octylsilane stationary phase is chemically stable and gives longer column life. As a result, ZORBAX SB-C8 is a stable reversed-phase packing that can be used for basic, neutral, or acidic samples. It is particularly well suited for use with aggressive mobile phases (for example, pH < 2, high-ionic-strength, ion-pair additives, etc.) since the steric protection of the bonded phase resists degradation caused by such mobile phases. This material has also been shown to be stable when operated at temperatures up to 80 °C. These characteristics are particularly important for use in methods that need long-term stability and reproducibility. ZORBAX SB-C8 is especially suited in applications that use high-sensitivity detectors that require low backgrounds (for example, mass spectrome- ters).

Agilent Stability-Test Comparison - ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C8 vs. Symmetry-C8

User Manual

This article compares the stability test results of ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C8 and Symmetry-C8. The ZORBAX particle technology results in an extremely strong and dense silica support that dissolves more slowly at higher pH than xerogel particles used in Symmetry column packings. The extra dense bonding of ZORBAX XDB-C8 helps to shield the silica support at intermediate pH and decreases loss of chromatographic performance compared to Symmetry C8. By combining dense, durable particles, extra-dense bonding, and double endcapping, ZORBAX Eclipse packings (e.g., XDB-C8) have increased lifetime compared to Symmetry columns.

Agilent Fat Soluble Vitamins on ZORBAX XDB-C8 Manual

User Manual

This application demonstrates a reversed-phase separation using high-organic concentration (>90% methanol) on a ZORBAX XDB-C8 column. By using reversed-phase chromatography for water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins, labs requiring both assays can now minimize changeover time.
