Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C8 RRHT Threaded Column Datasheet

Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C8 RRHT Threaded Column Datasheet

Datasheet 2 pages · 89 KB · EN

The Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C8 RRHT threaded columns are engineered for high-pressure operation up to 600 bar. They utilize eXtra-Dense Bonding (XDB) technology with dimethyl-n-octylsilane ligands bonded to ultra-pure Type B silica support to ensure high efficiency and stability. The packing is doubly endcapped to protect the silica surface from dissolution in mobile phases with intermediate and higher pH levels, making it suitable for separating acidic, basic, and highly polar compounds.

What is the recommended pH range for optimum performance?

Optimum lifetime and performance are obtained at a pH between 3 and 8.

From: Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C8 Rapid Resolution Threaded Column Datasheet

Can the column be operated above 600 bar?

No, chromatographic performance has not been tested above this limit.

From: Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C8 Rapid Resolution Threaded Column Datasheet

Why is ZORBAX XDB-C8 more stable than Symmetry C8 at higher pH?

ZORBAX particle technology uses a dense silica support that dissolves more slowly at higher pH than the xerogel particles used in Symmetry columns.

From: Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C8 vs. Symmetry-C8 Stability Test Comparison

How does extra dense bonding affect chromatographic performance?

The extra dense bonding helps shield the silica support at intermediate pH and decreases the loss of chromatographic performance compared to Symmetry C8.
