STMicroelectronics L6591 PWM Controller for ZVS Half Bridge Datasheet
The L6591 is a double-ended PWM controller specific to the soft-switched half bridge topology. It provides complementary PWM control with an externally programmable deadtime to guarantee soft-switching and enable high-frequency operation up to 500 kHz. The IC incorporates a high-voltage floating structure able to withstand more than 600 V with a synchronous-driven high-voltage DMOS that replaces the external fast-recovery bootstrap diode.
The device includes advanced features such as onboard high-voltage startup, adaptive UVLO, and light load management via burst mode operation. Protection functions include pulse-by-pulse overcurrent protection (OCP), latched or autorestart OLP, transformer saturation detection, and a latched disable input. It also offers an interface with PFC controllers to allow the pre-regulator to be switched off between bursts for energy saving compliance.
