STMicroelectronics L9942 Integrated Stepper Motor Driver Datasheet

STMicroelectronics L9942 Integrated Stepper Motor Driver Datasheet

Datasheet 40 pages · 639 KB · EN

The L9942 is an integrated stepper motor driver designed specifically for bipolar stepper motors. It supports microstepping with a programmable current profile look-up table containing 9 entries at 5-bit resolution, allowing flexible adaptation of motor characteristics such as audible noise, vibrations, rotation speed, or torque.

The device features two full bridges capable of driving a maximum load of 1.3 A (with an RDSON of 500 mΩ). It includes programmable decay modes (Fast-, Slow-, Mixed-, and Auto-), stall detection to prevent overheating during position alignment, and short-circuit protection with open-load and overload current monitoring.
