The DS4520 is a 9-bit nonvolatile (NV) I/O expander with 64 bytes of NV user memory controlled by an I2C-compatible serial interface. It serves as a digitally programmable alternative to hardware jumpers and mechanical switches, allowing digital states to be read and configured via the serial interface. The device features open-drain outputs capable of sinking up to 12mA and powers up in the desired state without waiting for host CPU control.
