Maxim MAX3316E–MAX3319E RS-232 Transceiver Datasheet
The MAX3316E–MAX3319E family are 2.5 V powered RS‑232 compatible transceivers featuring shutdown (MAX3317E), AutoShutdown Plus™ (MAX3318E/MAX3319E), and enhanced ESD protection. They operate over a supply range of +2.25 V to +3.0 V, guarantee a 460 kbps data rate, and include a dual charge‑pump that requires only four 0.1 µF capacitors.
Available in compact SSOP and TSSOP packages, the devices support a wide range of applications such as handheld computers, pagers, and GPS terminals. Key functional blocks include inverting transmitters, active‑low receivers, a READY logic‑level output, and an INVALID signal for detecting the absence of valid RS‑232 levels. The family also offers a low‑power shutdown mode with supply current below 1 µA while keeping receivers active.
