Texas Instruments LM317 3-Terminal Adjustable Regulator Datasheet
The LM317 is an adjustable three-terminal positive-voltage regulator designed for applications such as programmable output regulation, local on-card regulation, and precision current regulation. It requires only two external resistors to set the output voltage and offers better line and load regulation than standard fixed regulators.
The device includes internal protection features including short-circuit current limiting, thermal overload protection, and safe-operating-area compensation. It is available in multiple package options: Plastic Small-Outline Transistor (SOT-223), Flange Mounted (KTE), and Heat-Sink Mounted (KC).
