Maxim MAX4888/MAX4889 PCI Express Passive Switch Datasheet
The MAX4888 and MAX4889 are high‑speed passive switches that route PCI Express® (PCIe) data between two possible destinations. The MAX4888 provides a 4 × SPDT (quad) configuration for switching two half‑lanes, while the MAX4889 offers an 8 × SPDT (octal) configuration for four half‑lanes. Both devices use a single digital control input (SEL) to select the signal path and are fully specified for operation from a single 1.65 V to 3.6 V supply.
Key features include low on‑resistance (≈0.1 Ω), fast turn‑on/off times (≈90 ns), propagation delay around 50 ps, and operation over a temperature range of –40 °C to +85 °C. The devices are supplied in thin‑QFN packages (28‑pin 3.5 × 5.5 mm for MAX4888, 42‑pin 3.5 × 9.0 mm for MAX4889) and are intended for desktop computers, servers, storage area networks, and laptops.
