Maxim Integrated MAX3171/MAX3173 Multiprotocol Transceiver Datasheet
The MAX3171 and MAX3173 are three‑driver/three‑receiver multiprotocol transceivers that operate from a single +3.3 V supply. They form a complete DTE/DCE interface together with the MAX3170 and MAX3172/3174 and support V.28 (RS‑232), V.10/V.11 (RS‑449, V.36, EIA‑530, X.21, RS‑423) and V.35 protocols.
Key features include a dual charge‑pump that generates both positive and negative output voltages, a no‑cable mode that reduces supply current, fail‑safe receiver operation, and software‑selectable mode pins (M0, M1, M2, DCE/DTE) for protocol selection. The devices are offered in a 28‑pin SSOP package and require only four surface‑mount capacitors for charge‑pump operation.
