About this manual

The MAX3171 and MAX3173 are three‑driver/three‑receiver multiprotocol transceivers that operate from a single +3.3 V supply. They support V.28 (RS‑232) and V.10/V.11 (RS‑449, V.36, EIA‑530, EIA‑530‑A, X.21, RS‑423) protocols and can be configured as DTE or DCE interfaces via software‑selectable pins.

The devices are offered in a small 28‑pin SSOP package, feature a no‑cable mode with 2 mA supply current, and include fault‑protected transmitter outputs, thermal‑shutdown protection, and optional deglitching on the MAX3171.
