Maxim MAX7456 Single-Channel Monochrome On‑Screen Display Datasheet
The MAX7456 single‑channel monochrome on‑screen display (OSD) generator integrates a video driver, sync separator, EEPROM and SPI interface to create user‑defined graphics on NTSC or PAL composite video. It provides 256 pre‑loaded characters and allows re‑programming of up to 256 custom 12 × 18‑pixel characters, with up to 16 rows × 30 columns displayed.
The device operates from three independent 5 V supplies (AVDD, DVDD, PVDD) over –40 °C to +85 °C, and offers TTL sync outputs (VSYNC, HSYNC, LOS) and a clock output for daisy‑chaining multiple MAX7456 parts. Layout guidelines and an evaluation kit are included to aid PCB design.
