This document describes the features and characteristics of Motorola Thyristors, and their applications in full-wave AC control. These devices are designed for full-wave silicon gate controlled solid-state devices, such as solid-state relays, motor controls, heating controls, and power supplies. Triac type thyristors can switch from a blocking to a conducting state for either polarity of applied anode voltage with positive or negative gate triggering. The devices have high blocking voltage, parameter uniformity, stability, low thermal resistance, high heat dissipation, and durability.
