FAIRCHILD Single-Channel: 6N138 6N139 Dual-Channel: HCPL-2730 HCPL-2731 Low Input Current High Gain Split Darlington Optocouplers handbook(1)
This document describes the Fairchild Semiconductor Darlington Optocouplers, specifically the single-channel models 6N138 and 6N139, and the dual-channel models HCPL-2730 and HCPL-2731. These devices consist of an AlGaAs LED optically coupled to a high gain split darlington photodetector, designed for applications requiring digital logic ground isolation and high common mode noise rejection.
The optocouplers feature a very low input current of 0.5 mA and a high current transfer ratio of up to 2000%. The split darlington configuration allows for lower output saturation voltage and higher speed operation compared to conventional darlington phototransistor optocouplers. An internal noise shield provides exceptional common mode rejection of 10 kV/us.
