SGS-THOMSON L7800 Series Positive Voltage Regulator Datasheet
The L7800 series are three‑terminal positive voltage regulators offered in TO‑220, ISOWATT220, TO‑3 and DPAK packages. They provide fixed output voltages ranging from 5 V to 24 V and can be used for on‑card regulation, eliminating distribution problems of single‑point regulation.
Each device includes internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe‑area protection, allowing up to 1.5 A of output current when adequate heat‑sinking is provided. The datasheet lists thermal resistance values, dropout voltage, short‑circuit current, and supply‑voltage rejection for each voltage version.
