This application note describes the use of mass spectrometry to identify metabolites in rice and related bacteria, and to investigate the relationship between metabolites and susceptibility or resistance of rice to bacterial blight
This document details a study employing Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS) to profile metabolites associated with Bacterial Leaf Blight (BLB) in rice. The research aimed to distinguish between susceptible and resistant rice lines by analyzing their metabolic responses to infection by the Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) bacteria.
The study utilized an Agilent 1200 Series LC coupled with Agilent 6210 Time-of-Flight and 6510 Quadrupole Time-of-Flight MS systems. Data was analyzed using Agilent GeneSpring MS bioinformatics software to identify statistically significant variations in metabolite abundance between control and experimental samples.
