This PDF document describes the features and characteristics of the IRK.41 and IRK.56 series ADD-A-pakTM GEN V Power Modules, including high voltage industrial standard package, copper baseplate, easy mounting, and high surge capability.
The IRK.41 and IRK.56 series are high‑voltage Add‑A‑pak™ power modules designed for regulated power supplies, lighting, motor‑speed control, UPS and battery chargers. They feature a thick aluminum metal die, double‑stick bonding, a copper baseplate for easy heatsink mounting, and UL E78996 approval.
The modules are available in a TO‑240AA case style, operate from –40 °C to 125 °C, and are rated for up to 1600 V repetitive off‑state voltage with on‑state average currents of 45 A (IRK.41) and 60 A (IRK.56). Thermal resistance is low (0.23 °C/W for IRK.41, 0.20 °C/W for IRK.56) and mounting torque of 5 Nm is recommended.
| Maximum repetitive off‑state voltage | 1600 V |
|---|---|
| On‑state average current (IRK.41 / IRK.56) | 45 A / 60 A |
| Maximum forward voltage (threshold) | 0.88 V / 0.85 V |
| Junction operating temperature range | -40 °C to 125 °C |
| Storage temperature range | -40 °C to 125 °C |
| Case style | TO‑240AA |
The IRK.41 series is rated for a maximum repetitive off‑state voltage of 1600 V.
Mount the module on a heatsink using the copper baseplate, apply grease, and tighten the mounting bolts to about 5 Nm.
The modules can be stored from –40 °C up to 125 °C.
