PCF5078 is a power amplifier controller for GSM and PCN systems produced by Philips Semiconductors. It has the characteristics of being compatible with the baseband interface family PCF5073x, two power sensor inputs, temperature compensation, DAC input active filter, PA (power amplifier) protection against mismatching, detector diode bias current source, PA pre-bias level generation at the start of burst (home position), the possibility to adapt home position by external components and applicable for a wide range of silicon and GaAs power amplifiers.
The PCF5078 is a CMOS integrated circuit designed to build a power amplifier (PA) control loop for cellular systems, specifically Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) and Personal Communications Network (PCN) systems. It integrates an amplifier for detected RF voltage, an integrator, and an active filter to minimize the need for external passive components.
