Agilent's high efficiency GC columns can be used for PAH analysis. This article introduces the performance of two Agilent J&W columns, DB-EUPAH and DB-5ms. Both columns can separate PAHs well.
This application note compares the performance of Agilent J&W DB-EUPAH and DB-5ms High Efficiency GC columns for the analysis of 24 regulated Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs). The DB-EUPAH column is recommended when the resolution of benzo[b,j,k]fluoranthene isomers is required, achieving separation of all 24 analytes in under 28 minutes. The DB-5ms column is an excellent choice when reporting the sum of benzofluoranthene isomers is sufficient, offering a faster analysis time of under 22 minutes for 23 of the 24 analytes.
| Column Length | 20 m |
|---|---|
| Column ID | 0.18 mm |
| Part Number (DB-EUPAH) | 121-9627 |
| Part Number (DB-5ms) | 121-5522 |
| Analysis Time (DB-EUPAH) | Under 28 minutes |
The Agilent J&W DB-EUPAH column is recommended when separation of benzo[b,j,k]fluoranthene isomers is required.
The separation of all 24 regulated PAHs is achieved in under 28 minutes.
The Agilent J&W DB-EUPAH column is recommended when separation of these isomers is required.
The injection volume was reduced to 0.5 pL in order to scale the separation.
