About this manual

The PCA148x series are CMOS integrated circuits designed for battery‑operated quartz‑crystal wrist watches that drive bipolar stepping motors. They feature a 32 kHz oscillator with excellent frequency stability, programmable time calibration via EEPROM, and very low typical current consumption of 170 nA.

The device generates six motor‑pulse stages, automatically adapting pulse width to the required torque. It includes on‑chip detection of the induced motor voltage, battery‑end‑of‑life indication, and a correction sequence for missed steps. Pin configurations, package options, and detailed functional descriptions are provided in the document.
