About this manual

The Micrel development system provides a hands‑on platform for evaluating the MICRF505, MICRF506, MICRF600, MICRF610 and MICRF620 transceivers. The board includes a PIC18LF4320 microcontroller, SMA antenna connector, RS‑232 or logic‑level serial interface, and a set of LEDs and DIP switches to select operating modes.

The manual describes board inputs/outputs, how to configure DIP switches for RF test, byte‑transfer and 2‑way link modes, and details the PC‑side RF TestBench software. Firmware can be upgraded via the on‑board ICSP socket using a Microchip MPLAB ICD2 programmer.

Frequently asked questions

What power supply voltage is required for the development board?

The board operates from a 6 V to 9 V DC supply.

How many LEDs are on the development board and what do they indicate?

There is one power‑on LED, one RF‑powered LED, and four status/control LEDs.

What is the purpose of the DIP switches on the board?

The four DIP switches select the board’s mode of operation, such as RF test, byte‑transfer or link‑test modes.
