ADM2209E is an EMI-/EMC-compliant dual RS-232 port chip with 15 kV ESD protection. It includes two complete serial ports, six drivers, and ten receivers, and can be used with 3V or 5V logic. The chip features low power CMOS design with less than 5mA operation current and 100uA standby current. It also has a data rate of 460 kbit/s, guaranteed Laplink compatibility, and can be active in standby mode. The chip complies with the 89/336/EEC EMC directive, has ESD protection of 8kV contact discharge and 15kV air-gap discharge according to IEC1000-4-2 (801.2), and meets the electrical fast transient (EFT) immunity specified in IEC1000-4-4 and low EMI emissions specified in EN55022. It is suitable for applications such as personal computers, printers, peripherals, and modems.
