About this manual

The ADN2812 provides receiver functions for quantization, signal‑level detection, and clock‑and‑data recovery over continuous data rates from 12.3 Mb/s to 2.7 Gb/s. It locks automatically without an external reference clock, meets SONET jitter requirements, and includes a loss‑of‑signal detector with adjustable threshold.

The device is supplied in a 5 mm × 5 mm 32‑lead LFCSP, operates from a single 3.3 V supply (3.0 V‑3.6 V range), and draws about 750 mW. Typical applications include SONET OC‑1/3/12/48, Fibre Channel, GbE, HDTV, WDM transponders, repeaters, test equipment, and broadband routers.

Frequently asked questions

What is the input data rate range of the ADN2812?

The ADN2812 accepts serial data from 12.3 Mb/s up to 2.7 Gb/s.

Does the ADN2812 require an external reference clock?

No, the device operates without a reference clock.

What supply voltage does the ADN2812 need?

It operates from a single supply of 3.0 V to 3.6 V, typically 3.3 V.

How is loss of signal detected?

The LOS detector monitors the input level and asserts when it falls below a programmable threshold of 3 mV to 15 mV, with hysteresis to prevent chatter.
