Agilent Technologies Function of Column Length in Fast Chromatography

This article describes the use of short column lengths for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and discusses some of the advantages of this method. Short column lengths can reduce analysis times, increase peak heights, and allow for some tolerable loss in resolution. This method is particularly well suited for high-throughput analysis and can reduce solvent consumption and enhance sensitivity for mass-limited samples.
