Dual-column analysis with HP-35 and HP PAS-1701 columns was used to analyze chlorinated pesti- cides targeted in EPA Methods 608 and 8080 for wastewater and solid wastes. GC parameters were optimized using the Agilent 5890 Series II gas chromatograph (GC) with electronic pressure control (EPC), a dual injector, and a dual electron capture detector (ECD) system. The analysis of 18 pesticides was completed in 12 minutes.
This document details an optimized analytical method for detecting chlorinated pesticides targeted in EPA Methods 608 and 8080. The procedure utilizes a dual-column/dual-electron capture detector (ECD) system featuring Agilent HP-35 and HP PAS-1701 columns controlled by the Agilent 5890 Series II GC with Electronic Pressure Control (EPC).
The method achieves baseline separation of 20 target pesticides and surrogates in approximately 12 minutes, significantly reducing analysis time compared to conventional methods. The technique involves simultaneous splitless injections using an Agilent 7673 automatic sampler and specific oven temperature programs optimized for each column's unique selectivity.
The analysis of 18 pesticides was completed in 12 minutes.
Run time was 11.5 minutes with good baseline separations for all 20 target pesticides and surrogates.
The inlet temperature is set to 250°C.
