About this manual

The IDT70V631S is a high-speed 256K x 18 Asynchronous Dual-Port Static RAM designed for use as a stand-alone 4608K-bit Dual-Port RAM or as a MASTER/SLAVE configuration for 36-bit or wider word systems. It features true dual-port memory cells allowing simultaneous access to the same location and includes on-chip port arbitration logic with full hardware support for semaphore signaling.

The device operates from a single 3.3V power supply for the core, with selectable 3.3V or 2.5V supplies for I/Os and control signals on each port via OPT pins. It is available in 128-pin TQFP, 208-ball BGA, and 256-ball BGA packages. Industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C) options are available for selected speeds.

Frequently asked questions

Can the IDT70V631S be used in a 36-bit memory system?

Yes, using the Master/Slave select feature allows data bus width expansion to 36 bits or more by cascading devices.

Does this RAM support JTAG?

Yes, it supports IEEE 1149.1 compliant JTAG features, except on the 128-pin TQFP package due to limited pin count.

How are the I/O voltages selected?

The OPT pins control whether each port operates at 3.3V or 2.5V, while the core remains at 3.3V.
