This document describes the PLS167 and PLS168, which are field-programmable replacements for sequential control logic. The devices function as Advanced Mealy state machines with a registered output, utilizing a familiar AND/OR PLA logic structure to implement sum-of-product equations.
The PLS167/8-33 devices are fabricated in Advanced Micro Devices' advanced oxide-isolated bipolar process, while the PLSCE167/8H-33 variants use high-speed, electrically erasable CMOS technology offering significant power improvements. Both families are fully supported by industry-standard CAD tools like PALASM and standard PLD programmers.
| Technology | Advanced oxide-isolated bipolar process / high-speed EE CMOS process |
|---|---|
| Max Frequency (CMOS) | 93 MHz |
| Supply Current (CMOS) | 100 mA |
| Outputs Drive Capability | 24 mA low, three-state outputs |
| Package Types | 24-pin plastic SKINNYDIP and 28-pin PLCC |
They are field-programmable replacements for sequential control logic that function as Mealy state machines with a registered output.
Programming is accomplished using standard PLD programmers and is supported by industry-standard CAD tools including PALASM.
