About this manual

The DS2506 is a 64‑kbit add‑only EPROM that communicates over a single‑wire interface. It includes a factory‑laser‑etched 48‑bit serial number, an 8‑bit family code and an 8‑bit CRC for absolute traceability. Power for read operations is derived parasitically from the 1‑Wire line, while programming requires a separate 11.5‑12 V pulse.

The device offers 256 pages of 32 bytes each, a built‑in multidrop controller for compatibility with other MicroLAN products, and optional overdrive mode that raises the communication speed to 142 kbits/s. Electrical characteristics, timing diagrams and command flow charts are provided for both normal and overdrive operation.

Frequently asked questions

How is the DS2506 powered during read operations?

Read operations draw power parasitically from the 1‑Wire communication line, using energy stored on an internal capacitor.

What programming voltage is required for the DS2506?

A programming voltage of 11.5 V to 12.0 V at about 10 mA must be applied on the 1‑Wire line to program the EPROM.

How many EPROM pages does the DS2506 contain?

The DS2506 contains 256 EPROM pages, each 32 bytes in size.

What is the purpose of the 48‑bit serial number in the DS2506?

The factory‑laser‑etched 48‑bit serial number provides a unique identity for absolute traceability of each device.
