About this manual

The CY7C65640A is Cypress’s TetraHub™ high‑performance, self‑powered USB 2.0 hub controller. It provides four downstream ports, each with its own Transaction Translator, and can be configured via an external SPI EEPROM for VID, PID, DID and other options.

The manual covers system initialization, enumeration, power‑switching, over‑current detection, port indicator operation, pin descriptions, and USB descriptor tables, giving designers the information needed to integrate the device into standalone hubs, motherboard hubs, or monitor hub applications.

Frequently asked questions

How many downstream ports are provided by the CY7C65640A?

The device provides four downstream ports.

What is the function of the Transaction Translator (TT) in this hub?

The TT translates high‑speed split transactions to full‑ or low‑speed transactions for downstream devices when the hub operates at high speed.

How is over‑current detection implemented?

Over‑current detection uses an 8 ms default timer (configurable via EEPROM) and reports the condition through the OVR pins, disabling the corresponding power output.
