About this manual

The MAX505 and MAX506 are CMOS quad 8‑bit voltage‑output DACs. Each device can be powered from a single +5 V supply or from dual +5 V supplies, and the internal precision output buffers swing rail‑to‑rail. The MAX505 provides separate reference inputs for each DAC, while the MAX506 shares a common reference input across all four DACs.

Both parts feature TTL and 5 V CMOS compatible digital inputs, double‑buffered inputs on the MAX505, and a range of package options (plastic DIP, narrow‑SO, SSOP, etc.). Electrical characteristics such as resolution, total unadjusted error, and output settling time are specified in the datasheet, along with detailed pin descriptions and functional diagrams.
