About this manual

The MAX4959 and MAX4960 are high‑voltage over‑voltage protection (OVP) controllers that safeguard low‑voltage systems against faults up to +28 V. When the input voltage exceeds the adjustable over‑voltage lockout (OVLO) threshold, the devices turn off an external p‑FET to protect downstream components. They also feature an adjustable undervoltage lockout (UVLO) and a battery‑switchover control pin (CB) that connects a backup battery when the adapter is removed.

Key features include ±2.5 % accurate external threshold adjustment, protection against incorrect power adapters, low 100 µA typical supply current, a 25 ms input debounce timer, and 10‑pin UDFN or uMAX packages rated for –40 °C to +85 °C. The datasheet provides absolute maximum ratings, electrical characteristics, pin functions, functional diagrams, and package dimensions.
