The LTC ®1960 is a highly integrated battery charger and selector intended for portable products using dual smart batteries. A serial SPI interface allows an external microcontroller to control and monitor status of both batteries. A proprietary PowerPath architecture supports simultaneous charging or discharging of both batteries. Typical battery run times are extended by 10%, while charging times are reduced by up to 50%. The LTC1960 automati cally switches between power sources in less than 10µs to prevent power interruption upon battery or wall adapter removal. The synchronous buck battery charger delivers 95% efficiency with only 0.5V dropout voltage, and prevents audible noise in all operating modes. Patented* input current limiting with 5% accuracy charges batteries in the shortest possible time without overloading the wall adapter. The LTC1960’s 5mm × 7mm 38-pin QFN and 36-pin narrow SSOP packages allow implementation of a complete SBS-compliant dual battery system while consum ing minimum PCB area.

The VN02NSP/VN02NPT are monolithic devices made using SGS-THOMSON Vertical Intelligent Power Technology, intended for driving resistive or inductive loads with one side grounded. The ISL6257 is a highly integrated Li-Ion/Li-Ion polymer battery charger controller designed for notebook computers. It uses a synchronous buck topology to achieve high efficiency at low system voltages. The low-side MOSFET emulates a diode at light loads to improve light load efficiency and prevent system bus boosting. The constant output voltage can be selected for 2, 3 and 4 series Li-Ion cells with ±0.5% accuracy over temperature. It can also be programmed between 4.2V + 5% per cell and 4.2V - 5% per cell to optimize battery capacity. When supplying the load and battery charger simultaneously, the input current limit for the AC adapter is programmable to within ±3% accuracy to avoid overloading the AC adapter and to allow the system to make efficient use of the available power.

AD744 is a high precision, 500 ns settling BiFET op amp. It has a gain bandwidth of 13MHz (internal compensation) and up to 1000 pF capacitive load drive capability. It is suitable for output buffers for 12-bit, 14-bit and 16-bit DACs, ADC buffers, cable drivers, wideband preamplifiers and active filters.

The MAX5954 hot-plug controller is designed for PCI Express™ applications. The device provides hot-plug control for 12V, 3.3V, and 3.3V auxiliary supplies of a single PCI Express (PCI-E) slot. The MAX5954’s logic inputs/outputs allow interfacing directly with the system hot-plug management controller or through an SMBus™ with an external I/O expander. Integrated debounced attention switch and present-detect signals are included to simplify system design. The MAX5954 drives two external n-channel MOSFETs to control the 12V and 3.3V main outputs. The 3.3V auxiliary output is controlled through an internal 0.3Ω n-channel MOSFET. An internal charge pump provides gate drive for the 12V output while the gate drive of the 3.3V output is driven by the 12V input supply. The 3.3V auxiliary output is completely independent from the main outputs with its own charge pump. At power-up, the MAX5954 keeps all of the external MOSFETs off until the supplies rise above their respective undervoltage-lockout (UVLO) thresholds. The device keeps the internal MOSFET off only until the auxiliary input supply rises above its UVLO threshold. Upon a turn-on command, the MAX5954 enhances the external and internal MOSFETs slowly with a constant gate current to limit the power-supply inrush current. The MAX5954 actively limits the current of all outputs at all times and shuts down if an overcurrent condition persists for longer than a programmable overcurrent timeout.

The LM48410 is a single supply, high efficiency, 2.3W/channel, filterless switching audio amplifier. It eliminates the output filter, reducing external component count, board area consumption, system cost, and simplifying design. The device operates from a single 5V supply and delivers 2.3W/channel of continuous output power to a 4Ω load with less than 10% THD+N. It offers two logic selectable modulation schemes, fixed frequency mode, and an EMI suppressing spread spectrum mode. The LM48410 features high efficiency compared with conventional Class AB amplifiers.
