Introduces the assembly guidelines for Fairchild TinyBuck™ packaging

TinyCalc is a Microsoft Excel-based calculator created to simplify the design of TinyBuck-based regulators. TinyBuck products are integrated synchronous buck regulators with one high-side and one low-side MOSFET and a controller/driver integrated in one 5x6mm molded leadless package (MLP). The last digit in the part number signifies the current rating of the product. This calculator covers designs with FAN2103, FAN2106, FAN2108, FAN2110, FAN21SV04, and FAN21SV06 regulators. Regulators with SV in the part numbers have a built-in 5V regulator. This document describes how to configure Excel 07 so this calculator can work without errors. This guide explains how to use the TinyCalc calculator to choose external components for designs once the input and output conditions are provided.

This document describes the design tools for FAN2106, including a spreadsheet calculator and average simulation models. The spreadsheet calculator can calculate component values and estimate losses. The average simulation models can be run on the full version and evaluation version of Pspice/AD.

This app note describes the design tools for FAN5069, including an Excel workbook to calculate recommended external component values and a continuous-time behavioral model of the modulator that runs in PSPICE A/D v9.1 or above.

This document introduces design aids for simplifying designs using the FAN5234 and FAN5236 PWM modulators, including a spreadsheet to calculate recommended component values and a continuous time behavioral model that runs in PSPICE A/D. The document also provides Bode plot outputs and phase gain Bode plot functionality.

FAN8303 is a 2A, 370kHz monolithic integrated buck regulator with internal power MOSFETs. It is simple to use and needs minimal external components. This application note describes how to generate negative voltage using FAN8303. It introduces application examples and discusses optimized designs for a buck-boost circuit.

FAN8303 is a 2A, 370kHz single-chip integrated buck regulator with an integrated power transistor (MOSFET). It is simple to use and requires only minimal external components. This technical application note will explain how to use FAN8303 to generate negative voltage. The document will introduce application examples and discuss the best design for boost-buck circuits.

This document provides assembly guidelines for Fairchild's 6x6 DriverMOS packaging, including information on the packaging technology, circuit design considerations, board mounting, soldering, and back end processing.

This application note focuses on the soldering and back end processing of the 8x8 MLP

This article presents some design guidelines for the RCD snubber of flyback converters. When the MOSFET turns off, a high-voltage spike occurs on the drain pin because of a resonance between the leakage inductor (Llk) of the main transformer and the output capacitor (COSS) of the MOSFET. The excessive voltage on the drain pin may lead to an avalanche breakdown and eventually damage the MOSFET. Therefore, it is necessary to add an additional circuit to clamp the voltage.

This document describes the “shoot-through” phenomenon in synchronous buck converters and provides two solutions to mitigate it.

This document is about synchronous buck MOSFET loss calculations, and provides an excel calculation model.

The FAN1577A is a high-efficiency, voltage-mode, dual-channel, synchronous DC/DC PWM controller for two independent outputs. The two channels are operated out of phase. The internal reference voltage is trimmed to 0.7V±1.0%. It is connected to the error amplifier's positive terminal for voltage feedback regulation. A soft-start circuit ensures the output voltage can be gradually and smoothly increased from zero to its final regulated value. The soft-start pin can also be used for chip-enable function. When two soft-start pins are grounded, the chip is disabled, and the total operation current can be reduced to under 0.7mA. The fixed-frequency is programmable from 61kHz to 340kHz. It also includes features such as programmable over-current protection (OCP) and output over-voltage protection (OVP).

The FAN2001/FAN2002 is a high-efficiency, low-noise synchronous PWM current mode and Pulse Skip (Power Save) mode DC-DC converter. It features 96% efficiency, adjustable output voltage options, 2.5V to 5.5V input voltage range, and up to 1A output current.
