This document describes the design tools for FAN2106, including a spreadsheet calculator and average simulation models. The spreadsheet calculator can calculate component values and estimate losses. The average simulation models can be run on the full version and evaluation version of Pspice/AD.
Fairchild Semiconductor has developed independent tools to minimize design time for the FAN2106 IC. These include an Excel-based spreadsheet calculator that calculates component values, estimates losses, and provides Bode plots, as well as average simulation models compatible with full or evaluation versions of PSpice/AD.
Microsoft Excel 2002 or later with the Analysis ToolPak Add-In and Analysis ToolPak — VBA Add-In.
Fairchild recommends at least 60° of phase margin when the gain crosses 0dB to ensure a stable system.
The tools are available on Fairchild's website in a zip file named AN-6033.zip.
