DS90CF581DS90CF582 LVDS 24-Bit Color Flat Panel Display (FPD) Link is a chipset released by National Semiconductor for connecting displays and motherboards. The chipset uses a 40MHz clock frequency to convert 28 bits of CMOSTTL data into four LVDS data streams, and transmits the data through the fifth LVDS link to the display. DS90CF581 can transmit 40MHz clock signal and 4 LVDS data streams to the display, and DS90CF582 can convert the received 4 LVDS data streams to 28 bits of CMOSTTL data stream and output the data to the motherboard. The chipset has low power consumption, low EMI and other features.
The document describes a chipset designed to solve EMI and cable size problems associated with wide, high-speed TTL interfaces. The DS90CF581 transmitter converts 28 bits of CMOS/TTL input data into four LVDS data streams plus a phase-locked transmit clock. Conversely, the DS90CF582 receiver converts these LVDS data streams back into 28 bits of CMOS/TTL data.
At a clock frequency of 40 MHz, the system transmits 24 bits of RGB data and 4 bits of LCD timing/control data at a rate of 280 Mbps per channel. The chipset operates with a low power CMOS design and requires no external components for its PLL.
