This document introduces a method for quantifying multi-class pharmaceuticals in water using simultaneous positive and negative ESI on the Varian 320-MS triple quadrupole mass spectrometer
This document details a method for quantifying twelve multi-class pharmaceuticals in water using the Agilent 320-MS triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. The study utilizes simultaneous positive and negative Electrospray Ionization (ESI) in Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM) mode to analyze a broad range of compounds, including antibiotics and endocrine disruptors, in treated wastewater and surface water.
The application outlines specific Liquid Chromatography (LC) and Mass Spectrometry (MS) parameters, including column conditions, solvent gradients, and MRM transitions for analytes such as Amoxicillin, Acetaminophen, and Ibuprofen. Results indicate that the method achieves excellent separation in less than 10 minutes with high linearity (r² > 0.995) and acceptable repeatability (%RSD < 13%) for the tested pharmaceuticals.
