This document introduces the characteristics of Agilent 1290 Infinity LC and its complementary sensitivity with MS detection.
This document evaluates the complementary sensitivity of UV and MS detection in fast LC/MS analysis. It compares the limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) achieved by an Agilent 6140 Single Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer against different Diode Array Detector (DAD) configurations on the Agilent 1290 Infinity LC system.
The study specifically analyzes the performance of the Agilent 1290 Infinity DAD equipped with 10-mm and 60-mm Max-Light cartridge cells, as well as a comparison to the Agilent 1200 Series DAD SL. Results indicate that the 60-mm Max-Light cell configuration offers the highest sensitivity among the DAD setups, narrowing the gap between UV and MS detection capabilities.

The Agilent 1290 Infinity DAD equipped with the 60-mm Max-Light cartridge cell provides the best overlap with mass spectrometric detection.
The 60-mm cell provides a 5 times higher sensitivity compared to the 10-mm Max-Light cartridge cell.
The Agilent 1200 Series DAD SL with a 10-mm cell has a limit of quantification of 200 pg/pL.
