This document describes the features and characteristics of the Series 0503 Pin-Line Collet Sockets with Wire Wrap Pins produced by Aries. The product can be custom designed and produced according to specific requirements, including special materials, platings, sizes, and configurations. The product is stackable and can be mounted on any centers. It is available with wire wrap or solder tail pins. The specifications include body and pin material, plating, contact material, contact plating, contact current rating, and operating temperature.
The 0503 Series pin‑line collet sockets are offered with wire‑wrap or solder‑tail pins and can be mounted on any pitch, end‑to‑end or side‑by‑side, to create 0.100 in (2.54 mm) grid patterns. Rows of socket strips are cut to the desired number of positions using the “Break” feature. Optional plating choices include gold, tin/lead, tin or nickel, and the contacts are made of beryllium‑copper alloy.
Mounting considerations specify a PCB hole size of 0.045 in + 0.002 in and accept leads of 0.015‑0.025 in diameter. The contacts are rated for 3 A current, operate from –67 °F to 221 °F (tin) or –67 °F to 257 °F (gold), and have defined insertion, withdrawal and normal forces. Aries can provide custom materials, platings, sizes and configurations on request.
