The IRS2166D is a fully integrated, fully protected 600 V ballast control IC designed to drive all types of fluorescent lamps. The IRS2166D is based on the popular IR2166 control IC with additional improvements to increase ballast performance. PFC circuitry operates in critical conduction mode and provides high PF, low THD, and DC bus regulation.
The IRS2166D(S)PbF is a fully integrated 600 V PFC and ballast control IC for fluorescent lamp drivers. It combines PFC, ballast control, and a half‑bridge driver with programmable preheat/run frequencies, over‑current protection, end‑of‑life protection, and UVLO reset.
The document lists absolute maximum ratings, recommended operating conditions, electrical characteristics, pin assignments, timing diagrams, and package options (16‑lead PDIP and SOIC). It also includes a state diagram and revision history for the device.
| High‑side floating supply voltage range | -0.3 V to 625 V |
|---|---|
| Package options | 16‑Lead PDIP, 16‑Lead SOIC |
| Operating temperature range (junction) | -55 °C to 150 °C |
| Quiescent VCC supply current | 4.0 mA to 43 mA |
| Maximum power dissipation (16‑lead DIP, 25 °C) | 1.8 W |
The high‑side floating supply voltage can be as high as 625 V.
It provides programmable over‑current protection, end‑of‑life protection, DC‑bus undervoltage reset, lamp‑removal auto‑restart, latch immunity, and ESD protection.
The device is offered in 16‑lead PDIP and 16‑lead SOIC packages.
The junction temperature should be kept between –55 °C and 150 °C.
