Zetex ZXCT1030 High-side current monitor with comparator Datasheet

ZXCT1030 is a high side current sense monitor from Zetex, which integrates an internal reference and comparator with a non-latching output. This device eliminates the need to disrupt the ground plane when sensing a load current. The wide input voltage range of 20V down to as low as 2.2V makes it suitable for a range of applications. Dynamics and supply current are optimized for the processing of fast pulses, associated with switch mode applications.

About this manual

The ZXCT1030 high‑side current monitor integrates an internal voltage reference and comparator with a non‑latching open‑collector output. It senses load current without breaking the ground plane and provides a linear output voltage scaled by a factor of 10 over a 2.2 V to 20 V common‑mode range.

Typical applications include battery chargers, electronic fuses, DC motor control, over‑current monitoring, power‑management circuits and inrush‑current limiting. The device is offered in SO8 and MSOP8 packages, with recommended decoupling of a 10 µF ceramic capacitor across VCC and ground for stable operation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the supply voltage range for the ZXCT1030?

The device operates from 2.2 V up to 20 V supply voltage.

What is the maximum output voltage the monitor can provide?

It can deliver up to 18 V at its output.

How is the comparator output configured?

The comparator has an open‑collector active‑low output that asserts when VSENSE × 10 exceeds Vcomp_in; a pull‑up resistor can connect it to any voltage rail.

What decoupling capacitor is recommended for stable operation?

A ceramic 10 µF capacitor placed across VCC and ground is recommended.
