This application note describes electronic high frequency ballast based on VK05CFL designed to drive from 18 to 23W TC DEL and T5 removable fluorescent tubes. The design was performed for 185÷265 Vac main voltage.

This document describes the application of digital power factor correction technology in tube lamp ballasts and other digital power supplies controlled by an 8-bit microcontroller. It focuses on power control and ballast protection.

This application note introduces the L6585D control IC, a new PFC control IC for electronic ballasts. This IC integrates both PFC and half-bridge sections, and embeds a wide range of features to provide an energy saving and cost effective solution.

This application note describes a demo board able to drive a 54 W linear T5 fluorescent lamp. The ballast control is done by the L6585D that integrates PFC and half-bridge control circuits, the relevant drivers, and the circuitry able to manage all lamp operating phases (pre-heating, ignition and run mode). Protections against main failures (lamp disconnection, anti-capacitive mode, PFC over-voltage) are guaranteed and obtained with a minimum number of external components. Finally, the electronic solution allows better control of the filament current and lamp voltage during pre-heating with the unquestionable benefit of increasing the mean lamp life.

This document describes a 20W dimmable CFL ballast solution that can completely replace incandescent lamps in formal dimming systems. The dimmer controlled range is 20% - 100% of full light output without changing the formal triac dimmer. Compared to the formal CFL solution, this solution not only provides energy savings, but also higher reliability and a much longer operating life.

This document describes a high-efficiency, high power factor, low THD and digital dimming electronic ballast designed to drive 2X36 W T8 tube lamps.

2x58 W/T8 or 2x36 W/T8 fluorescent lamp ballast demonstration board driven by STMicroelectronics' L6585D

The L6585DE is a combo IC for electronic ballasts that offers the designer a high performance PFC stage, high capability half bridge high voltage drivers, a fully programmable control and an enhanced set of protections.

This document describes a new device introduced by ST Microelectronics called SaTCR-1 (Satellite Channel Router), which is able to translate a transponder to any location in the satellite bandwidth (950-2150 MHz). Multiple SaTCR devices coupled with band-pass filters and RF matrix allow to combine transponders from different polarizations and bands on a single coaxial cable. The purpose of this document is to describe the AN2056 protocol extension used to control a LNB based on SCR technology.

The STEVAL-ISV015V1 is a demonstration board mounting the SPV1040 device (solar energy harvester) as input stage and the LD39050PUR device (low noise and low quiescent current voltage regulator) as output stage. It targets any portable application powered by USB supply and merges the capability of the SPV1040 device to maximize the power extraction from solar modules with the high precision voltage regulation of the LD39050 device.

This document introduces 5V and 12V power line protection based on STEF05 and STEF12 electronic fuses. These electronic fuses are designed to monitor the output current and input voltage and protect the electronic circuitry from overcurrent and overvoltage. They have programmable turn-on time to control the inrush current during startup and hot-swaps. When an overload condition occurs, the electronic fuse limits the output current to a predefined safe value. If the abnormal overload condition persists, it goes into an open state, disconnecting the load from the power supply. Both devices are equipped with a thermal protection circuit.

The STEVAL-ISV012V1 is a demonstration board that mounts the SPV1040 (solar energy harvester) as the input stage and the L6924D (Li-Ion battery charger) as the output stage. It targets any portable application powered by lithium-ion batteries and merges the capability of the SPV1040 to maximize the power extraction from the solar module with the linear regulation of the L6924D, to optimize the battery charge and to protect the load while reducing the power dissipation at the bottom.
