This application note describes how to use the STM8SVLDISCOVERY to drive a standard HD44780 2-line LCD display. The example uses a LCD display driver that is as generic as possible and can be reused with any STM8 device. The example uses the popular 2 x 16 format of LCD display, but other LCD display modules based on compatible ST7066 or KS0066U controllers can also be used.

This document describes the CR95HF library allowing an STM8L microcontroller to drive the CR95HF 13.56 MHz multiprotocol contactless transceiver using an SPI or UART interface, in order to perform wireless communications with ISO/IEC15693 contactless tag. The library was developed to speed up the development of applications using the CR95HF. The CR95HF library is composed of three layers: Low level CR95HF layer, Standard ISO/IEC 15693 protocol layer, and Product layer (LRIxK and Dual Interface EEPROM contactless tag). The library code has been developed in ANSI C language, and validated on an STM8L evaluation board. The firmware runs either on the STM8L1528-EVAL evaluation board or the STM8L-DISCOVERY board. The MCU can be either the STM8L152M8 (on the STM8L1528-Eval board) or the STM8L152C6 (STM8L-DISCOVERY).

This application note describes the peripheral firmware examples provided for the STM32F4DISCOVERY Kit. These ready-to-run examples are provided to help the user get started quickly with STM32F4xx peripherals and STM32F4DISCOVERY board hardware. Preconfigured projects for EWARM, MDK-ARM, TrueSTUDIO and TASKING toolchains are provided for each example. These examples are included in the firmware applications package available for download on www.st.com/stm32f4-discovery. Users are advised to first read the document Getting started with software and firmware environments for the STM32F4DISCOVERY Kit (UM1467) to familiarize themselves with the STM32F4DISCOVERY Kit.

This application note describes the implementation of the STM32 firmware library for the dSPIN stepper motor control product (L6470). It provides a guide on how to use the library for final application development. The L6470 is a fully integrated microstepping motor driver with embedded motion engine and SPI communication interface. A low RDSON DMOS power stage is also a part of the IC. The chip supports different operating modes including a 128-microstep resolution. It is based on digital control core surrounded with a number of different peripherals and protections. Chip operating mode, motion profiles, and all the other parameters are memorized in an embedded set of registers. Communication with the IC is done through an integrated 5 MHz SPI periphery in determined data format according to the documentation. See the L6470 datasheet for more details about registers, application commands, etc. The firmware library speeds up the application development process and saves time consumed by register constant definitions and command routine implementation in the microcontroller source code.
