About this manual

The Philips 74HC/HCT4094 is a high-speed Si-gate CMOS device functioning as an 8-stage serial shift register. It features a storage latch associated with each stage to strobe data from the serial input (D) to parallel buffered 3-state outputs (QP0 to QP7). The device is pin compatible with the '4094' of the '4000B' series and complies with JEDEC standard no. 7A.

Data shifting occurs on positive-going clock transitions, while data transfer to the storage register happens when the strobe input (STR) is HIGH. Two serial outputs (QS1 and QS2) are provided for cascading multiple devices, supporting both fast and slow clock rise times. The device supports applications such as serial-to-parallel data conversion and remote control holding registers.
