About this manual

The Philips SAA7128AH and SAA7129AH are monolithic CMOS integrated circuits designed as digital video encoders. These devices encode digital Cg-Y-Cb video data into NTSC, PAL, or SECAM CVBS or S-video signals while simultaneously providing RGB or bypassed but interpolated Cr-Y-Cb signals via three additional DACs.

The chips accept two ITU-R BT.656 compatible Cb-Y-Cr data streams with 720 active pixels per line through a 54 MHz double-speed multiplexed D1 interface. They include an on-chip crystal oscillator and feature various encoding capabilities such as closed captioning, World Standard Teletext (WST), North-American Broadcast Text System (NABTS), and Copy Generation Management System (CGMS). The devices are available in a QFP44 package.
