The HV-MD2 (also sold as Mitsubishi MD‑CZ11) is a decoder that converts the bandwidth‑compressed analog MUSE HDTV signal to a standard 525‑line NTSC output for use with conventional TVs and VCRs. It also includes a dedicated input for Hi‑Vision LD discs and supports both audio and video downconversion.
The unit features front‑panel controls for power, input selection, NTSC output mode, and audio program selection, with indicator lamps showing the active functions. Rear‑panel connectors include RCA video/audio outputs, Mini‑DIN S‑Video, and power outlets. The decoder operates from AC 100 V (compatible with 110‑120 V) and consumes 21 W (2.1 W standby).
